Job Description
As the Category Manager, you will lead procurement, category and contract management activities in a dynamic operational environment. Working closely with the Didipio Operation and key stakeholders, you will deliver strong commercial outcomes, reliable supply, and ongoing cost optimisation aligned to business objectives.
This is a 6‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver procurement, category and supplier management activities that support operational and business objectives.
- Apply strong commercial and procurement expertise to achieve cost‑effective, reliable supply outcomes.
- Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies for the Didipio Operation, aligned to operational plans and cost reduction targets.
- Negotiate and manage commercial agreements across capital, consumables and services to optimise value.
- Build and manage effective supplier relationships, including the development and execution of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) plans.
- Work closely with Operations, Site Commercial, Site Supply Chain and Technical Services teams to ensure strong alignment and delivery.
- Review and manage key contracts and agreements to protect and advance OceanaGold’s commercial interests.
- Monitor supplier and category performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate strong problem‑solving, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, explaining business challenges and procurement strategies to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Develop and manage work plans and schedules, balancing business requirements, procurement processes and workload demands.
Qualifications
- Bachelor‑level qualification in a commercial discipline such as Commerce, Law, Supply Chain, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience across commercial and/or procurement roles, with a proven track record of delivering results. Experience in the mining industry is highly regarded.
- Strong capability in reviewing, interpreting and applying contractual terms, with a clear understanding of commercial and operational impacts.
- Sound knowledge of contract law and legislative requirements related to procurement and negotiation.
- Experience working with Pronto or similar ERP systems.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to complex projects, managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
- Proven experience across contract management, sourcing, vendor management and supplier relationship management.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance operational demands and strategic objectives.
