NuScale Power is committed to providing a clean energy future and is seeking an Engineering Intern to support various engineering efforts. The intern will work closely with engineers to assist in tasks such as engineering studies, design documents, and analysis in multiple engineering domains.
Responsibilities:
- Assist engineers in performing engineering studies, reports, drawings, calculations, and design documents in areas including probabilistic risk assessment, core design and reactor physics, core or system thermal-hydraulics, and fuel thermal-mechanical analysis and methods
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, processes, and criteria in preparation of engineering deliverables
- Conduct analysis to support development of various Engineering methodologies and software
- Assist with the development of licensing reports as required for different regulatory processes
- Support supplier qualification, technical evaluations, and procurement documentation
- Assist in system requirements development and traceability
- Support interface control and configuration management activities
- Support design and analysis of refueling systems and fuel handling equipment
- Assist with seismic, structural, and anchorage analyses
- Perform finite element modeling and structural load assessments
- Support radiation protection analysis, dose modeling, source term development, radiological consequence analysis
- Support design and qualification of reactor pressure vessel internals and major components
- Evaluate system interactions and operational transients
- Assist with piping layout design and stress analysis
- Support pipe support and seismic qualification activities
- Support advanced reactor technology innovation initiatives
- Contribute to design improvements and performance optimization studies
- Use open, honest communications when managing work activities, ensuring clarity of task assigned and resulting high quality workmanship and an attention to detail
- Contribute to detailed instructions in the area of probabilistic risk assessment, nuclear analysis, and/or system thermal hydraulic analyses as lessons are learned and best practices are gained
- Effectively communicate with other technical and non-technical disciplines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited technical degree program or pursuing an advanced degree
- Eligible to work in the United States per 10 CFR Part 810 rules
- Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program
- A minimum of two years advanced experience using MS Word, Excel, Adobe PDF
- Ability to understand engineering concepts, principles, theories
- Strong technical writing skills
- Good communication, computer, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases
- Technical writing and attention to detail
