The Lead, Systems Engineering position involves overseeing technical efforts on space-based optical systems, managing complex activities, and coordinating cross-functional teams to enhance national security and scientific exploration.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing system tasks to ensure timely and high-quality completion, balancing program priorities, and contributing to program management reviews
- Managing risk processes by identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential issues, maintaining the Risk Register, and supporting Level 1 requirements sell-off and End Item Data Packages (EIDP)
- Overseeing the development, review, and release of Level 2 and Level 3 specifications and drawings, ensuring compliance with project requirements
- Providing technical guidance during design reviews, supporting test and verification activities, and participating in technical exchange meetings
- Mentoring team members, contributing to proposals and technical volumes, and assisting in resolving non-conformance reports
- Overseeing qualification processes to meet system standards and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to achieve project objectives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific discipline
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
- Active Secret security clearance
- Professional experience in electro-optical design, electronics, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems
- System integration expertise
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Experience in leading technical teams
- Experience in managing projects
- Experience working within space environments
- Graduate degree with at least 7 years of experience
- Familiarity with space environment considerations
- Familiarity with satellite systems
- Familiarity with space mission design
- Proficiency with systems engineering tools such as DOORs, JAMA, Cameo, Magic Draw, JIRA, and SysML
