Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Technical Project Manager to join their Product Integrity Department and support the Military Avionics Systems Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Engineering teams. The role involves managing technical performance of multiple programs, liaising between project management and engineering teams, and ensuring project quality expectations are met.
Responsibilities:
- Liaises between project management and planning; engineering design teams and our RMS project teams as well as with line management providing timely and effective communication
- Leads a wide range of entry-level to highly experienced engineers
- Responsible for managing the technical performance of multiple programs concurrently, each with a small number of RMS engineers (3-5)
- Prepares and maintains project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements to ensure that all action item lists are completed, and project quality expectations are met
- Understand customer Statement of Work and Contract Requirements relating to RMS and translate them into the Engineering bid, and/or execution activities
- Manage assigned project including tracking & reporting on budget and schedule performance through Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) techniques
- Ensure excellence in engineering and technology
Requirements:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- U.S. Person required – Military contract stipulates the candidates must be U.S. Persons
- Experience with preparing and presenting technical information to peers, customers, and higher levels of management
- Experience driving project schedules to keep programs running efficiently and tracks budget and schedule commitments
- Aerospace industry experience is required
- Familiarity of Civil or Military Certification and Compliance in accordance with ARP4761 or military safety assessments in accordance with MIL-STD-882E System Safety
- Basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297 or in reliability engineering theory
- Progressive leadership in the design, development, test, or integration of safety critical avionics with embedded software or electronic systems
- Experience using Agile methodologies for hardware and software development
- Experience navigating competing priorities, delivering the highest level of engagement and delivering successful outcomes in critical situations
- Experience leading projects and teams within a highly matrixed organization
- Strong Project management skills using MS Office/MS Project/EVMS
- Identification of risks early on and ability to manage/mitigate by leveraging Sr. Leadership Support
- Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools
- Working in AGILE SAFe team environment, SAFE Agile or PMI PMP certified
