
The Mission Outreach Coordinator works to advance the mission of Source both internally and externally through missionary recruitment and applications, content creation, donor engagement, and management of missionary life. This role includes leading local and national college outreach to promote the mission of Source and support long-term missionaries. The coordinator develops and maintains relationships with college chaplains, campus ministers, service coordinators, and students on behalf of the Source Program, schedules annual recruitment trips, completes registration and travel arrangements, and attends or assigns staff to attend recruitment events.
The coordinator also manages the application process for summer and year-long candidates and oversees the day-to-day life of missionaries through schedule and calendar coordination. Additionally, the Coordinator gathers and records contact information for newsletters and donor engagement, collaborating with staff to send out the monthly newsletter to Source supporters. This role includes active participation in the apostolic outreach of Source and engagement with the broader missionary community.
Essential Functions:
Mission Promotion and Recruiting
Create and manage the annual recruiting budget with the Director of Mission.
Develop relationships with college chaplains, campus ministers, service coordinators, and students.
Invite local colleges to participate in ministry.
Send promotional materials to colleges.
Coordinate, assign, and attend talks at parishes, high schools, youth groups, and local colleges to share the mission of Source.
Attend occasional events as invited.
Schedule and coordinate attendance at service fairs and other campus visits; attend or assign staff and missionaries to attend fairs and conferences (includes out-of-state travel).
Gather contact information and follow up with students met at these events; if another staff member attended, collaborate to log and gather information collected.
Create promotional materials advertising mission opportunities (e.g., posters, flyers, brochures) and distribute appropriately.
Reach out to students and individuals to encourage them to apply.
Application Management
Work with interested individuals throughout the application process.
Conduct phone screenings with anyone who fills out the mission inquiry form.
Receive applications and references.
Coordinate interviews with the Director of Outreach.
Coordinate psychological interviews.
Compile completed applications and send to the team for review.
Communicate acceptance or rejection decisions.
Follow up with applicants who have not responded.
Missionary Life
Manage the day-to-day life of the mission.
Schedule and coordinate events and work with the team to create a yearly schedule.
Lead weekly Tuesday meetings with missionaries to communicate schedules and program updates.
Manage missionary time off and guest requests.
Create cooking and cleaning schedules.
Coordinate and manage weekly missionary internships.
Enforce mission handbook policies and procedures.
Donor Engagement
Send out the monthly email newsletter, sharing updates and photos from the mission.
Ensure all individuals connected with Source—volunteers, donors, college students, and applicants—are added to the newsletter system.
Other
Attend ministry events (e.g., meal ministry, street walks) as assigned.
Assist with special events (e.g., Thanksgiving and Easter lunches, mission trips).
Work at the Basilica welcome desk on Sundays as required.
Be present in the Basilica Parish, forming relationships and helping parishioners engage with Source’s mission.
Attend and participate in Monday staff meetings and monthly staff dinners.
Support Basilica events as requested.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Must be a practicing Catholic who adheres to all magisterial teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Minimum of two years of prior work experience in a related field, including and/or in addition to 2+ years of experience in missionary service.
Must be able to work a dynamic schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
Must possess the ability to:
Use a computer and modern software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe, etc.).
Work independently without direct supervision.
Honor and maintain confidentiality.
Work positively and effectively with others, respond to multiple demands respectfully, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
Pay Range: $50,000, Annualized
