IBM is introducing Vault, HashiCorp’s multi-cloud security platform that serves some of the world's largest finance, healthcare, and technology companies. The role involves strategic leadership in product design, collaborating with teams to create secure application workflows and improve security practices for enterprise users.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to set priorities, goals, and roadmaps
- Guide product innovations from early concepts to General Availability (GA) release, ensuring design aligns with business objectives
- Own the full design process for medium-to-large scoped projects
- Develop a deep domain understanding of our products and the Jobs to Be Done (JTBDs) for our technical users
- Create seamless experiences by delivering research plans, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes
- Combine research and creativity to deliver practical, elegant solutions for complex security workflows
- Partner with engineers on feasibility, responsiveness, and component details
- Work iteratively in a dynamic, globally distributed environment to act on high-priority roadmap initiatives
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine and prioritize new features critical to the success of HashiCorp’s largest enterprise customers
Requirements:
- Proven experience designing for complex technical experiences, especially for enterprise IT, infrastructure, or security products
- Comfortable working across a distributed, global team and thriving in a remote-first environment
- You are a problem solver who takes ownership of your work, focuses on delivering impact, and values peer feedback to learn and grow
- Expertise in modern design tools (Figma, etc.) and a willingness to learn the key workflows involved in HashiCorp products (Terraform, Vault, Boundary, Consul)
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience
- Deep understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) including OIDC, SAML, LDAP, RBAC, and ABAC
- Familiarity with Secrets Management lifecycles (rotation, dynamic secrets)
- Experience designing for 'SecOps' and 'Platform Engineer' personas, balancing developer experience (DX) with security compliance
- Ability to utilize 'Systems Thinking' to design scalable frameworks across a multi-product ecosystem
- Proven track record of influencing product roadmaps by translating technical constraints into UX opportunities
- Experience mapping high-complexity user journeys to identify 'edge cases' before they reach the engineering phase
- Comfort engaging in deep technical discussions with engineers regarding API structures, CLI patterns, and system architecture
- Skill in using qualitative research and quantitative telemetry to justify decisions; experience leading design workshops (journey mapping, service blueprints)
- A high bar for visual craft, utilizing and contributing back to enterprise-grade design systems
