Purpose of Position:
The Claims Specialist manages workers’ compensation and liability claims to ensure timely reporting, documentation, and resolution. This role works closely with employees, managers, insurance providers, and HR to support post-accident care, maintain compliance with OSHA reporting requirements, and ensure accurate tracking of workplace injuries and related leave.
Key Role Accountabilities:
• Submit workers’ compensation and liability claims to insurance providers and maintain communication with employees, managers, and carriers throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Authorize injury care and drug screens with approved medical facilities and collect physician documentation, treatment updates, and screening results.
• Review and approve accident and incident reports within the HRIS system and communicate with managers to ensure accurate and timely report submission.
• Identify incidents that require investigation in partnership with the Claims Manager and review reports for safety compliance, including proper PPE use.
• Track employee follow-up appointments, missed workdays, and work restrictions; coordinate with managers and HR on scheduling adjustments, accommodations, and return-to-work updates.
• Maintain OSHA logs and documentation, including annual OSHA 300 reporting and required workplace postings, and support the Claims Manager with disputed claims or litigation matters.
Must-Have/Preferred Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience in an HR, safety, or claims-related role.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with HRIS systems preferred.
• Must have a smartphone or smart device to access company systems with two-factor authentication.
