Position Summary
The Fleet Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s nationwide fleet operations, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, cost-effective, and optimized to support business needs. This role manages all aspects of fleet administration, including acquisition, maintenance, fuel, compliance, and vendor relationships. The Fleet Services Manager will partner with operations leaders across multiple states to drive efficiency, safety, and sustainability in fleet operations while supporting the company’s growth and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Maintenance
• Oversee day-to-day fleet management for company vehicles across multiple states.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
• Manage vehicle lifecycle from acquisition to disposal, ensuring cost efficiency.
• Track and manage fuel usage, repairs, inspections, and warranty claims.
Compliance & Safety
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate driver qualification files, vehicle registrations, and insurance documentation.
• Partner with HR and Safety to monitor driver performance, accident reporting, and training.
• Enforce company policies around safe vehicle operation and conduct audits to ensure adherence.
Financial Management & Vendor Oversight
• Develop and manage the fleet budget, including forecasting, fuel programs, leasing/financing, and repair costs.
• Negotiate and oversee vendor contracts for leasing, fuel cards, maintenance, GPS/telematics, and insurance.
• Analyze fleet data to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize asset utilization.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Supervise fleet coordinators, dispatchers, or regional fleet leads as applicable.
• Partner with operations leaders, HR, and compliance to ensure fleet supports business objectives.
• Provide regular reporting on fleet performance, costs, and compliance metrics to leadership.
• Drive adoption of technology (GPS, telematics, maintenance systems) to improve visibility and performance.
Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
• 5–7 years of experience in fleet management in a multi-state or large-scale environment.
• Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and state/federal fleet compliance requirements.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
• Proficiency in fleet management software, telematics, and MS Office (Excel/PowerPoint/Word).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional partners.
Preferred Attributes
• Fleet certification (NAFA Certified Automotive Fleet Manager – CAFM, or equivalent).
• Experience in high-volume, service-driven industries (e.g., distribution, logistics, transportation).
• Knowledge of sustainability and green fleet initiatives (EVs, fuel efficiency, etc.).
