- You will build cutting edge analytical and decision support systems from scratch to improve operational efficiencies
- You will be responsible for maintaining all system applications and programs within Flight Training Planning and Scheduling. You will be responsible for leveraging those systems to deepen capabilities and to glean business insights into American’s large and increasingly complex pilot training operation.
What you'll do
- Lead and support team of analysts tasked with application of data analysis to the pilot training business unit.
- Steer development, improvement and implementation of IT applications. Act as a chief business representative for IT and Operations Research projects.
- Partner with external vendors and internal departments like IT, Mosaic, Ops Research, etc. to enable cross functional collaboration.
- Lead analytical and decision support systems development to improve operational efficiencies.
- Build ad-hoc applications, macros, queries, dashboards, etc. to solve complex business problems.
- Identifies issues, recode, and replace current in-house developed desktop applications, Excel spreadsheets, and Access databases using Visual Basic 6.0 (VB) and Visual Basic For Applications(VBA).
- Bridge business needs and system capabilities to establish systematic reporting processes (e.g.dashboards, etc.) to measure the productivity and efficiency of both Flight Training and Flight Standards Scheduling facets.
- Conducts electronic and manual audits of database; effect procedural changes to resolve discrepancies.
- Acts as the System Administrator for the Training Management System (TMS) web application. Monitors user access to electronic pilot record keeping system (TMS).
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a technical field
- 5 years of airline experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- 5 years of experience in data analysis, SQL querying, data integration tools, project management or software development
- Solid understanding of crew systems, contracts and regulations
- Demonstrate skills of managing IT projects, building cross functional collaboration and working with end users to implement technology
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Knowledge of pilot qualifications, electronic recordkeeping and AQP requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft .Net web applications, SOAP web services, SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server
- Reporting Services, Visual Basic For Applications (VBA)
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and presentation
