Description:
The Medication Assistance Program Technician supports patients in accessing affordable medications by coordinating financial assistance programs, managing applications, and ensuring compliance with program requirements. This role works closely with pharmacists, providers, and patients to reduce medication cost barriers and improve adherence.
Assists patients in enrolling in manufacturer-sponsored patient assistance programs, copay cards, and other financial aid resources.
Verifies eligibility criteria for assistance programs and maintains accurate documentation.
Completes and submits patient assistance applications on behalf of patients.
Tracks application status and follows up with manufacturers, insurers, and patients as needed.
Educates patients on available financial assistance options and guides them through the process.
Responds to patient inquiries regarding medication costs and program requirements.
Works with pharmacists, prescribers, and insurance specialists to ensure timely medication access.
Documents all interactions and program activities in the pharmacy system or designated software.
Requirements:
• 2+ years relevant experience preferred.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Requires working knowledge and skills as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas and ability to work within established procedures under moderate supervision.
• Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires effective customer service skills.
• Requires intermediate proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications. High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
