A Day in the Life
This Specialist, based in Hyderabad (India) will be accountable for the efficient functioning of the Procurement and Logistics Department working under the guidance of Head-Strategic Sourcing & Head-Finance. He/she would execute the Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain strategy at MEIC for R&D support and Turn-Key projects to contribute to achieving quality, delivery and cost reduction targets.
He/she is expected to manage stakeholder relationships and work closely with R&D, Program Management, AME, Contract Manufacturers and other functions as applicable to understand key sourcing requirements and work to qualify and select vendors that meet project and business needs.
Engineering Service Providers / Strategic partners’ relationship management and monitoring of the engagements from a contractual perspective and all related matters. Responsible for direct and indirect sourcing for the MEIC entity.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Provide leadership in identifying & developing new suppliers as per project requirements.
- Work with relevant departments at MEIC and Regional Sourcing to understand requirements and identify new sourcing opportunities.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and in new markets as business requirements dictate.
- Work with strict compliance with ISO 13485 procedures and Medtronic and Centre-wide policies with regard to his/her charter; help in audits and work in close partnership with the QA function.
- Develop short-term supplier and commodity strategies which align with MEIC product development initiatives and, where appropriate, develop Engineering Service Provider risk mitigation programs.
- Maintain a qualified supply base to meet cost, quality, delivery, and technology requirements of the company.
- Manage the development and negotiation of supply agreements with suppliers encompassing key program specifications and functional objectives.
- Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities, and efficiencies, and work collaboratively with global team members to prioritize and drive implementation.
- Work within the Medtronic team to align MEIC sourcing initiatives with corporate guidelines.
- Will be accountable to manage all matters pertaining to Procurement, Sourcing, Vendor relationships, including Engineering Service Providers.
- Work in close tandem with the Regional Sourcing Head in terms of operations, annual delivery targets, and value creation initiatives.
- Works closely with the Regional Sourcing Head & Finance Head, all internal stakeholders, suppliers, and R&D cross-functional teams
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Full-time Graduation degree (preferably B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized university
- 4–8 years of relevant industry experience
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in working & managing Supply chain activities, Strategic Sourcing, developing new products with suppliers and supplier audits.
- Exposure to Medical devices R&D experience, Contract Manufacturing, Supply Chain or New Product Introductions preferred.
- Exposure to ISO 13485 procedure.
- Good knowledge on different taxes and SEZ material handling.
- Hands-on experience working in sourcing environment.
- Hands on experience in SAP and One source tools.
- Excellent price negotiation skills and familiar with equipment purchases and contract terms
Nice to have: - Certification in Supply Chain Management
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification
