The Electrical Journeyman is a skilled professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems that power hospital infrastructure. This role operates with limited supervision and applies advanced knowledge of healthcare-specific systems, life safety codes, and regulatory standards to ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical systems. The journeyman supports facility reliability while mentoring apprentices, contributing to safety leadership, and assisting in the execution of complex projects.

The journeyman leads electrical installation and maintenance efforts across lighting systems, emergency power, patient care equipment, medical grounding, and infrastructure upgrades. 

Responsibilities include:

•  Performing diagnostics, resolving complex system issues, and ensuring full code compliance in alignment with NFPA, CMS, and hospital-specific standards. 
• The role supervises apprentices, collaborates with project teams, and provides guidance on safety procedures such as hot work permits, lock-out/tag-out, confined space, and PPE use. 
• Additional duties include testing and maintaining critical backup systems (generators, UPS, programmable switchgear), supporting hospital-specific electrical systems such as motor controls and HVAC interfaces, and maintaining documentation to meet inspection and accreditation requirements. 
• Maintains and operates complex electrical systems including paralleling switchgear, transfer switches, line isolation monitors, UPS units, fire alarms, and motor control centers. Interprets schematics, performs preventive maintenance, and conducts diagnostics using tools such as multimeters and power analyzers. 
• Ensures compliance with NFPA 70, 72, 99, 110, OSHA standards, and The Joint Commission requirements. 
• Supports emergency system testing, coordinates with clinical teams, assists apprentices, and participates in facility inspections. Familiarity with programmable logic, emergency power sequencing, and healthcare safety protocols is essential for effective system management.

• High school diploma or GED

• Valid Oklahoma Electrical Journeyman License or completion of an INTEGRIS Health-approved apprenticeship program
• 3–5 years of related experience in healthcare or similar complex environments preferred
