TEKsystems is a leading provider of business and technology services, and they are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a multi-phase upgrade of a Tier 1 enterprise application. This role is critical for ensuring the stability and scalability of a business-critical system, requiring coordination across various teams and external vendors to successfully complete the upgrade by November 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end upgrade of a Tier 1 Application Extender / content management workflow system
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies through November 2026
- Manage phased upgrades, regression testing cycles, cutover planning, and post-deployment stabilization
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and change management processes
- Partner closely with application development, infrastructure, security, QA, and operations teams
- Translate technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for business stakeholders
- Identify and manage risks related to legacy systems, version gaps, integrations, and vendor dependencies
- Ensure completion of required documentation, testing artifacts, and validation deliverables
- Act as the primary point of contact for multiple external vendors
- Lead vendor planning sessions and track deliverables and SLAs
- Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to executive sponsors and technology leadership
- Facilitate governance meetings, steering committees, and cross-functional working sessions
- Track project budgets, forecasts, and vendor invoices
- Manage scope, change requests, and prioritization
- Ensure delivery remains on time, on budget, and aligned with operational and compliance standards
Requirements:
- Proven Experience Leading Complex Tier 1 Application Upgrades
- End-to-end ownership of upgrades where applications were multiple versions behind
- Experience with phased upgrade strategies (in-place and/or parallel)
- Cutover planning, runbooks, rollback strategies, and post-upgrade stabilization
- Managing EOL/EOS version remediation and risk mitigation
- Technical Project Management Expertise
- Strong technical experience (not solely a business PM)
- Ability to translate architecture, integration, and infrastructure constraints into executable plans
- Hands-on collaboration with application development, infrastructure, QA, security, and operations teams
- Experience running defect triage, environment readiness planning, and release coordination
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Proven experience managing multiple external vendors simultaneously
- Oversight of SOWs, SLAs, deliverables, and dependencies
- Issue escalation and executive-level communication
- Coordination across software publishers, system integrators, and internal teams

- Experience operating in regulated environments
- Strong risk and issue management discipline
- Familiarity with formal change control processes (e.g., CAB)

- Ability to build and maintain integrated project schedules
- Dependency management and milestone forecasting
- Clear, concise executive-level status reporting with actionable risk narratives
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise technology initiatives
- Proven experience leading large-scale application upgrades, especially multi-version upgrades
- Experience managing Tier 1 or mission-critical systems with high availability requirements
- Ability to manage long-term, multi-year projects with fixed deadlines
- Strong experience as a Technical Project Manager
- Hands-on experience with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems
