Penn Mutual is a company that has empowered individuals, families, and businesses for over 175 years. They are seeking an Information Security Engineer Intern to participate in technical analysis, guidance, consulting, and configuration of information security tooling and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Information Security team members with risk analysis of identified issues or events
- Monitor the effectiveness of security practices
- Provide vulnerability remediation support
- Liaise with and support security operations center (SOC) analysts with direction
- May be required to serve in on-call rotation
- Capable of assisting with proof-of-concepts or implementation of security tooling with direction
- Review, analyze (with direction) and/or respond to phishing submissions and alerts
- Support documentation, reporting or tracking related to security initiatives as assigned
- Participate in an entirely remote working environment (such as using webcam and participating verbally or with reactions)
Requirements:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer-related or information security related field
- Ability to understand and work in varied computing environments (like AWS Cloud and/or Microsoft Windows)
- Understanding of basic network and application terminology (such as OSI model)
- Basic knowledge of common vulnerabilities
- Demonstrates a commitment to AI fluency by embracing AI tools and technologies to enhance individual and team performance, decision-making, and innovation
- Basic problem-solving of computer related issues
- Able to demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills
- Work effectively with other employees in a fully remote environment
- Able to effectively communicate
- Information Security-related certification, education (classes), and/or project work preferred
- Rising junior or senior preferred
- Basic understanding of Identity Access Management preferred
- Basic coding and/or scripting capabilities in a language preferred
