As a Field Service Engineer I (TEM), you will support the installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated analytical and microscopy equipment while building strong customer relationships and gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with on-site installation, repair, testing, and maintenance of electron microscopy systems, including:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure systems operate according to specifications
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues with guidance from senior engineers when required
- Support senior field service engineers with complex repairs and system calibrations
- Develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and internal teams
- Travel to customer sites, sometimes on short notice, to provide technical support and service
- Document service activities and submit detailed field service reports
- Provide basic customer training on system operation and routine maintenance
- Follow safety procedures and quality standards when servicing equipment in laboratory environments
- Provide feedback to product quality and engineering teams regarding system performance
- Maintain accurate service documentation and support updates to technical service materials
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related technical field or 4+ years of equivalent education and experience in electronic systems
- 1+ years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, or calibrating sophisticated analytical equipment such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to travel up to 75% within assigned territory
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in laboratory environments
- Proficiency in English required, additional languages beneficial
- Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues to the component level
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and electrical schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently after training
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software
- Experience documenting service activities and preparing detailed reports
- Ability to effectively train and support customers on equipment operation
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and quality standards
- Ability to respond to customer needs with short notice
- Demonstrated success contributing to customer satisfaction goals
- Experience working with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems and high voltage equipment
