HukariAscendent is seeking experienced Mechanical Equipment Engineers to join their Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit. The positions involve supporting the design and retrofit of governmental facility and equipment projects, specializing in custom equipment design for handling hazardous materials.
Responsibilities:
- Lead or support detailed design of mechanical equipment and containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms, material handling equipment, pressure vessels)
- Prepare and review fabrication drawing packages, equipment datasheets, procurement specifications, and Bills of Materials using Creo (Pro/E) and Windchill
- Perform engineering analyses including strength of materials calculations, equipment sizing, and qualification calculations
- Develop fabrication specifications, test plans, and acceptance test procedures
- Coordinate design activities with electrical, structural, and process disciplines; perform interdisciplinary checks
- Direct and mentor junior engineers and designers on project tasks
- Support shop fabrication activities and field startup as required
- Follow regimented quality assurance and quality control procedures consistent with ASME NQA-1
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Engineer II: Minimum 4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Engineer III: Minimum 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Demonstrated capability in custom equipment and/or containment system design, including fabrication drawings and engineering analyses
- Proficiency in 3D design software: Creo (Pro/Engineer), SolidWorks, or Revit
- U.S. Citizenship required (client project requirement)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
- Experience with Department of Energy governmental facility projects following DOE-STD-1020
- Familiarity with ASME NQA-1-2000 quality assurance programs
- Experience with nuclear analysis and design including seismic qualification of mechanical equipment and gloveboxes
- Familiarity with ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 349, and AISC N690 codes
- Experience with MathCAD or equivalent calculation software
- PE license or ability to obtain (Engineer III: PE expected or obtainable within 6 months)
- Experience with supplier support, factory acceptance testing, and field startup
- Windchill PDM experience
