They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist in Software Engineering to work on cutting-edge embedded computing systems supporting critical defense programs. The role involves designing, developing, integrating, and testing embedded software components, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure operational performance aligns with system requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain embedded software solutions using C/C++ in support of defense mission systems
- Collaborate with hardware teams to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software components
- Design and implement software architecture, requirements, and test plans to ensure system reliability and performance
- Utilize testing frameworks, including Python-based tools, to validate software functionality and coverage
- Support system integration activities, including hardware and software testing, troubleshooting, and validation
- Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and program meetings to ensure alignment with mission objectives
- Maintain documentation related to software development, configuration management, and verification processes
- Assist in customer deployments and provide technical support as needed
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, including DevSecOps practices and test automation using Python or similar languages
- Work with network storage solutions and authentication schemes, including Radius and LDAP, to ensure secure system operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- At least six years of relevant experience
- Minimum of four years of experience for candidates with a graduate degree
- Minimum of ten years of related work experience for candidates without a degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Bash/Python
- Embedded system design experience
- Experience with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or LynxOS
- Knowledge of network protocols like Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand
- Secret US security clearance
- Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines
- Experience in software leadership roles, such as CSWE, IPTL, or CAM
- Strong background in embedded security, encryption, and safety-critical software development adhering to industry standards like DO-178 B or above
- Expertise in mission computing, memory systems, and displays
