Software Engineer

Optum is a global organization dedicated to improving health outcomes through technology. They are seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of Clinical Decision Support solutions, playing a crucial role in improving the healthcare system.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications
• Write clean, maintainable, and well documented code following established engineering standards and best practices
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers
• Collaborate with team members to translate business and technical requirements into working solutions
• Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software defects
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand ups, and retrospectives
• Learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and technologies as part of ongoing professional development

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or similar object‑oriented language)
• 2+ years of basic understanding of software development concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and version control (e.g., Git)
• Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Internship, co‑op, or academic project experience in software development
• Exposure to web technologies, APIs, or databases (SQL or NoSQL)
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms or modern DevOps concepts
