Research Scientist

Munich Re is a leading insurance company, and they are seeking a Research Scientist to join their Insure AI Underwriting team. This role focuses on assessing machine learning systems and developing financial solutions for AI risk, while collaborating with data science teams and research institutions.

Responsibilities:

• Work with data science teams at corporates and start-ups to assess the quality of the implementation of the machine learning systems and estimate the probability of predictions falling short compared to the actual outcomes or quantify the hallucination rate of GenAI applications
• Build relationships with leading research institutions in the area of statistics and computer science
• Contribute to the team’s research and academic publications
• Keep the team up to date with the latest developments in the area of machine learning risk quantification, e.g. model error or hallucinations rate assessments, copyright infringement by GenAI models, and AI discrimination risk
