Substation Project Engineer, Physical

ENTRUST Solutions Group is a community of dedicated professionals providing engineering, consulting, and automation services. They are seeking a Substation Project Engineer focused on physical design to lead the engineering and design of high-voltage substations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Develop substation physical layouts including general arrangements, elevation views, and section drawings
• Create and review one-line, three-line, grounding, conduit, and cable tray drawings
• Prepare bills of materials, equipment specifications, and design calculations (e.g., grounding, bus sizing, cable sizing)
• Lead or support substation physical design projects from concept through construction
• Coordinate with internal teams (CAD technicians, designers, engineers) and external stakeholders (clients, contractors)
• Perform quality control checks and ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
• Apply knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA standards
• Conduct grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies
• Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ETAP
• Interface with clients and team members to ensure project alignment
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers
• Participate in design reviews and client meetings

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3–8+ years of experience in substation physical design
• Strong understanding of power delivery systems and substation components
• PE license preferred
