
Job Summary:
Required to perform CNC machining operations for tooling. This job classification is intended to encompass more complex CNC milling and turning operations. May be required to assist higher grade Operators.
Job Responsibilities:
• Works from a variety of control media and program documentation to plan, setup, operate and adjust numerically controlled (CNC) milling and lathe machines to produce designed parts. Responsible for managing working list of jobs assigned.
• Prepares necessary adjustments to ready the machine for operation.
• Requires knowledge in the selection of tooling, cutters, quality standards, and materials for machining operations. Will improvise setups and material loading.
• Maintains tooling, cutters, and material storage areas within the machining cell. Assists and communicates when machine or tooling malfunctions.
• Uses a variety of measuring instruments including, but not limited to, micrometer, dial indicator, scale, various calipers, height gauges, and protractors.
• Performs deburring, blending, and grinding operations as required.
• Responsible for quality of own work.
• Performs other related duties as required.
Education:
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Must also have a vocational certificate/diploma related to computer numerical controlled machining, if without a minimum of 1 years’ experience. Uses advanced shop math, a variety of precision measuring instruments and interprets blueprints. Moderate computer skills required. Must successfully complete all required training courses.
Experience:
Requires a vocational certificate/diploma related to computer numerical controlled machining or a minimum of 1 years’ diversified machine experience, to include computer numerical controlled lathes or mills.
Working Conditions:
Typical shop working conditions. May be required to machine exotic materials that may, on occasion create unpleasant working conditions.
