CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, is seeking an Associate State Product Manager for California Auto. This role involves leading strategic initiatives to drive profitable growth across multiple products and distribution channels, while collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure effective planning and execution.
Responsibilities:
- Strategize, build, and implement product plans for assigned markets, ensuring compliance
- Consult with State Product Leadership to drive clarity of business strategies and operating objectives
- Influence overall strategy and business plans, defining where, how, and when to contend (customer segments, product mix, geography, value proposition, pricing, distribution channels, and product features)
- Develop product specifics and lead large initiatives/programs that are critical to the success of our largest book of business, covering design, pricing, policy development, compliance, and operational planning/budget
- Work closely with distribution partners to ensure product performance, proper execution, and strategic product distribution (investment and tactics)
- Utilize advanced knowledge of current products and future enhancements to make recommendations to the Product Strategy and Development team and develop market introduction plans
- Use sound analysis to find efficient ways of adapting countrywide initiatives to thrive in local market when necessary and develop appropriate product/underwriting modifications
- Collaborate with a team of analyst(s) and Product Specialists, empowering them and holding them accountable
- Oversee and coordinate product development, delivery, and analysis for assigned markets
- Supervise all aspects of product performance, including close ratio, retention, quality of the book of business, club and agent satisfaction, and other distribution channel satisfaction
- Review claims trends to achieve loss ratio targets
- Maintain market-specific competitive intelligence and trend analyses
- Stay abreast of competitor strategies and activities as well as regulatory/legislative processes
- Ensure alignment within and across functions and communicates results throughout the organization
- Drive strategy and advocate for the specific needs of California Auto, partnering on rate and non-rate action to address indication, gain strategic alignment, and ensure compliance
- Some travel required for high impact relationship building opportunities with partners
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related area (finance, marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of related work experience with 5+ years of relevant work experience in the personal lines P&C insurance industry
- Prior experience related to state product management in analytical, product specialist, or market generation roles or other related functions (e.g., pricing, product strategy and development, or data science) required
- Enhanced strategic and business insight
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Thorough knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, products, marketplace, competitive landscape, and pricing
- In-depth product management expertise
- Developed understanding of financial drivers of profitability and a proven track record to develop and sustain profitability-based product and marketing strategies

- Advanced negotiation skills and the ability to influence seasoned and senior-level internal and external parties

- Advanced degree, CPCU designation or Actuarial designations preferred
