Southland Industries is one of the nation’s largest MEP companies, built on the foundation of great people since 1949. They are seeking a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for creating and executing a business plan to identify new sales opportunities and support strategic business goals by developing key industry relationships and coordinating with Acquisition Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develops strategic direction for market segment or vertical market, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the business and in support of achieving annual sales targets
- Gathers market intelligence and outlines specific strategies necessary to drive growth and capitalize on business opportunities
- Works with business development and sales teams to develop client relationships and to identify and qualify new business opportunities
- Attends client meetings as necessary to support other team members
- Develops, maintains and expands relationships with all levels in an account
- Schedules appointments and meetings with customers in order to review and define program opportunities and desired success parameters, and to qualify the opportunity
- Attends critical networking and trade show events to obtain leads and expand knowledge of critical issues facing our customer base
- Participates in speaking engagements and authors white papers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years of consultative or relevant experience
- Must have experience working in relevant market sector or vertical market – specific experience varies based on BDM focus area
- Must have experience developing Design Build energy and / or infrastructure retrofit projects such as Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC), Energy as a Service (EaaS), Public Private Partnerships (PPP), etc
- Experience working in the specific vertical markets pertinent to Business Development activities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to present effectively to groups and in public forums, such as City Council or School Board meetings or Federal energy conferences and workshops
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated financial and business acumen
