Senior Software Engineer II - App Observability Team

Honeycomb is a company focused on defining observability and enhancing developer tools, currently collaborating with notable companies across various industries. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer II for their App Observability Team to design and deliver backend systems and APIs, maintain full-stack product features, and provide technical leadership while ensuring effective collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and deliver backend systems and APIs
• Build and maintain full-stack product features
• Provide technical leadership

Requirements:

• Deep experience designing, building, and maintaining backend systems
• Substantial expertise building APIs and backend services in Go (or similar languages)
• Strong opinions about API design, error handling, and developer experience
• Professional experience delivering frontend features and contributing to full-stack software through all stages of the development lifecycle
• Experience leading complex technical projects
• Ownership and autonomy in identifying problems, proposing solutions, and owning projects end-to-end
• A track record of making others better through mentoring and leading technical design reviews
• A collaborative and flexible mindset for working cross-functionally
• Clear, open communication skills, including giving and receiving feedback
• An interest in observability and production culture
• Experience supporting software in production
• experience with AI-assisted development
• proficient with AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
• excited to incorporate AI tools into workflow
