Amentum is a trusted partner to United States government agencies, and they are hiring a Principal Engineer for Radiation Hardened Systems to support nuclear modernization efforts. The role involves serving as a Subject Matter Expert on radiation effects, collaborating with leadership and Government customers, and guiding architectural decisions while mentoring staff and solving complex problems.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with numerous stakeholders across the Amentum and Government teams to understand specific program needs and requirements
- Analyze the impact of radiation environments on system performance and support system level design trades
- Design harden and verify the performance of systems across multiple radiation effects
- Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation hardened is maintained throughout the product lifecycle
- Provide guidance on critical decision-making and complex problem solving
- Develop and/or review program reports, technical papers, white papers, and roadmaps
- Demonstrate ability to recognize nuances and resolve contradictions and inconsistencies in information
- Support various Amentum company initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and at least twenty (20) years of job-related experience
- Expertise in materials and device radiation interactions
- Extensive experience in radiation testing, requirements development, and results analysis
- Strategic planning expertise across multiple programs and organizations
- Experience developing technical white papers and proposals
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of team members
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
