WSP, through POWER Engineers, is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager for their Power Delivery NERC compliance team. The role involves managing project teams, client relationships, and business development while ensuring compliance with NERC standards and overseeing project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Work with project management and engineering teams to manage business development among existing and new clients targeting NERC compliance services
- Lead the financial aspects of power delivery projects, managing and developing client relationships, and marketing POWER's services
- Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of technical professionals to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, and deliverables
- Lead the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans
- Maintain regular communications with clients including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts
- Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients and managers, identifying any emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budget
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm
- Essential project management certification required (e.g., PMP, CAP-M)
- 10+ years of relevant post education experience in a project management role within our industry
- Relevant experience includes small- to medium-scale project management, or project lead engineering experience on projects
- Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards across all Operations & Planning (O&P) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), including, but not limited to, CIP, EOP, FAC, MOD, PRC, TPL, and VAR
- Experience executing or leading studies for one or more of these standards
- Familiarity with utilities, developers, operators, and renewable companies subject to NERC
- Knowledge of substation and grid operation as they relate to the above listed
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating resources and assertively directing consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to consistently complete tasks competently and efficiently
- Candidate must have good English verbal and written communication skills and work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
- Master's Degree in Engineering
- Experience in protective relaying, SCADA, substation communications, cybersecurity, transmission planning, or other studies is beneficial, but not required
