Zócalo Health is a tech-enabled, community-oriented primary care organization serving underserved populations. The Senior Product Designer will establish a foundational design layer for care delivery, creating intuitive product experiences for internal tools and workflows that enhance care quality and team sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Establish UX guidelines, interaction patterns, and a lightweight design system that engineering teams (in-house and contract) can build against
- Own end-to-end design for care team workflows including outreach, intake, scheduling, and care coordination + member-facing touchpoints
- Design reporting and data visualization surfaces that give care teams and operational leaders visibility into performance and workflows
- Translate complex, real-world operational processes into simple, usable product experiences
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering, and Operations to ensure designs are feasible, adopted, and meaningfully improve how teams work
- Create exploratory designs and prototypes to pressure-test ideas and support future-state product vision
- Improve usability and consistency across existing MVPs through targeted, high-impact design improvements
Requirements:
- 5+ years of product design experience, ideally in workflow-heavy, operational, or healthcare-adjacent domains
- Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent) and comfort using AI-enabled design tooling (e.g., Figma AI, generative prototyping tools) to accelerate workflows
- Experience designing internal tools or complex systems, not only consumer or marketing products
- Strong ability to simplify complex processes into intuitive experiences
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, early-stage environments where structure must be created
- Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers with an understanding of how designs translate into shipped software
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate design rationale
- Experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or value-based care environments
- Familiarity with designing for frontline or non-technical users (e.g., Community Health Workers, care coordinators)
- Experience building or evolving a design system pragmatically in an early-stage org
- Experience designing bilingual or culturally sensitive user experiences (Spanish a plus)
- Experience designing dashboard, reporting, or data visualization interfaces
- Familiarity with EHR or clinical workflow constraints
