Imperium Global is a globally integrated design-build and professional services firm with a strong reputation across engineering, construction, and advanced technology markets. They are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the continued growth of its Data Center practice, focusing on the design, delivery, and technical oversight of electrical systems for complex data center projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement electrical systems for data centers, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems
- Serve as Engineer of Record, reviewing, approving, and signing off on engineering deliverables
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, installation drawings, and bills of materials
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEC, and client-specific requirements
- Perform system studies including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop specifications, project budgets, and design criteria
- Support BIM coordination and lead integration efforts across Revit and related platforms
- Participate in client meetings, providing technical expertise and maintaining strong working relationships
- Travel to project sites for surveys, audits, data collection, and coordination with stakeholders
- Support mentoring and development of junior engineers and contribute to quality assurance initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required
- 7-10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably within mission-critical or data center environments
- Strong expertise in power distribution, grounding, lighting, telecommunications, and life safety systems
- In-depth knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, and relevant industry standards
- Proficiency in design and modelling tools including Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM workflows
- Experience with electrical analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, or similar
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel for system analysis and cost modelling
- Demonstrated ability to manage project deliverables and coordinate across disciplines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage directly with clients and present technical concepts
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
