Senior Software Engineer, Design Tooling

Netflix is a company dedicated to entertaining the world and is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Design Tooling team. In this role, you will develop and maintain critical workflow applications, collaborate closely with designers and engineers, and drive innovation in the product design lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Owning, maintaining, and expanding critical workflow applications supporting hundreds of internal users (React and Figma)
• Implementing AI solutions, when appropriate, that measurably accelerate product design workflows
• Be the engineering lead on projects, working from ideation to implementation to rollout
• Conducting internal user-research to gather insights to inform prioritization and feature development
• Completing medium to large features independently without guidance
• Be the primary point of contact for support requests related to the Design Tooling portfolio
• Work with engineers across other teams to maintain the integrity and reliability of the Design Tooling portfolio
• Participate in on-call rotation to continue to meet our critical SLAs
• Conducting design and code reviews

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience designing, building, and shipping software
• Experience with single page applications architecture, patterns, and design
• Experience fetching data from GraphQL and REST APIs
• Experience with client-side instrumentation and observability
• Proven ability to lead projects and clearly and effectively communicate with partners
• Strong project scoping and project management skills
• Able to design, architect, debug, test, and create well-documented code
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js
• You're known for your excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• You have an ownership mentality in all the things you build and are comfortable with identifying opportunities and driving forward-looking technical roadmaps
• You take a thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving that considers tradeoffs and avoids over-engineering
• You're motivated by the scope and impact to influence decisions that shape the future of design workflows
• You're data driven and lean on both qualitative and quantitative data to drive your decision making
• You have a strong intuition for user experience flows
• Expert at managing web applications with complex state management
• Current/former professional experience working with Figma Plugins
• Bonus if you've contributed to open-source projects
