As Director of Platform Product Management, API & Connectivity, you will lead the vision and strategy for the Software Platform’s API ecosystem, ensuring developer-friendly and secure APIs while driving adoption and platform extensibility.
Responsibilities:
- Define and own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for API platforms, gateways, and connectivity services, aligned with company strategy and market trends
- Design API specifications, authentication, rate limiting, and lifecycle management (versioning, deprecation) to balance developer velocity and security
- Drive developer experience excellence: create portals, SDKs, interactive docs, sandboxes, and self-service onboarding to accelerate partner and internal adoption
- Define platform integration patterns and ecosystem/marketplace integrations that enable seamless connectivity across internal and external systems
- Partner with engineering to build scalable, observable API infrastructure
- Collaborate with security, compliance, sales, and partnerships to govern API access, ensure regulatory adherence, and enable go-to-market for API-powered products
- Establish KPIs such as API uptime, usage growth, developer NPS, error rates, and integration revenue; use data to iterate and report to executives
- Conduct developer research, run hackathons, and build feedback loops to identify pain points and opportunities for new connectivity capabilities
- Influence platform architecture for extensibility; evaluate build vs. buy for API management tools
Requirements:
- 10-15 years in product management, with 5+ years owning API platforms, developer platforms, or integrations in SaaS, fintech, or enterprise software
- Deep understanding of API design and systems
- Proven track record launching and scaling APIs: high adoption, low latency, and secure ecosystems in production environments
- Experience with API lifecycle management, versioning strategies, and backward compatibility
- Technical fluency in API standards, protocols, auth/security, and observability tools
- Strong analytical skills to model adoption metrics, performance tradeoffs, and business impact from integrations
- Executive influence: partners with leaders across engineering, architecture, and GTM leaders to drive platform investments and adoption
- Experience with API monetization, partner ecosystems, or marketplace strategies
- Background in event-driven architectures, webhooks, or real-time connectivity
- Familiarity with AI/ML integrations via APIs or developer tools for LLMs/agents
- Bachelor's /Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
