Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to serve as a technical contributor and subject matter expert for enterprise application delivery and security platforms. This role focuses on the engineering, operation, and security of load balancers, web application firewalls (WAF), and edge/CDN technologies across on‑premises and cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for application delivery and security platforms, including load balancers, WAF, and CDN technologies
- Perform hands‑on engineering, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of application delivery and security solutions across on‑prem and cloud environments
- Collaborate with network, security, cloud, and application teams to ensure alignment, continuity, and effective cross‑team communication
- Participate in capacity planning, forecasting, and architectural decisions to support scalable and resilient application delivery
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and application issues across OSI layers 1–7, providing clear and timely status updates to stakeholders
- Apply risk‑based decision‑making to protect proprietary, personal, and privileged data, ensuring strong application and network security controls
- Implement and maintain network and application security best practices, including WAF/load balancer configurations, change controls, monitoring, and documentation
- Support security audits and compliance activities by providing technical input, evidence, documentation, and remediation support
- Participate in a rotational on‑call schedule, responding to high‑priority incidents within defined SLAs and supporting off‑hours change windows as required
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining application delivery controllers such as: F5 (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM/AWAF, SSLO), A10, AVI, Citrix, or similar load balancer and WAF platforms
- 2+ years of experience supporting cloud‑native applications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience securing applications using CDN and edge security platforms
- Strong understanding of: HTTP/HTTPS and application traffic flows, SSL/TLS encryption, certificates, and key management, DNS, TCP/IP, switching, and routing concepts, Application security principles and controls, Solid knowledge of OWASP Top 10 threats and mitigation techniques
- Working knowledge of scripting or automation techniques to support operational efficiency
- Hands‑on experience with: F5 LTM, GTM (DNS), ASM/AWAF, SSLO, A10 and AVI load balancers, Shape Bot Protection, Cloud providers' native networking and security consoles (AWS, Azure, GCP), CDN and edge platforms such as Cloudflare, Akamai, and F5 Distributed Cloud (XC)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a security‑first mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
