Healthcare Data Engineer

CoventBridge Group is a global leader in full-service investigations, and they are seeking a Healthcare Data Engineer to focus on ETL development and data engineering for healthcare datasets. The role involves designing and maintaining data ingestion pipelines, ensuring data quality and compliance with healthcare standards, and collaborating with various teams to optimize data processes.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines in Databricks for healthcare data sources
• Process and transform complex healthcare data types, including: 837s, 835s, MMRs, historical membership, pharmacy, provider contractor data (claims and pharmacy data are most critical)
• Implement ETL workflows to move data from raw sources to curated layers for analytics
• Optimize pipeline performance and ensure compliance with healthcare data standards
• Collaborate with data analysts and IT DevOps for ingestion pipeline development, and with business teams to explain process and cost implications
• Make recommendations for improving Databricks utilization, cost management, and organization for the analytics team
• Document processes and maintain best practices for data governance and security

Requirements:

• Strong experience in data engineering with a focus on ETL and pipeline development
• Expert-level proficiency in Databricks
• Hands-on experience with healthcare data formats (837, 835, MMR, membership, pharmacy, provider data)
• Solid understanding of data modeling, transformations, and performance tuning
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with Python for data manipulation (though scripting is secondary to pipeline engineering)
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security best practices
• Background in healthcare analytics or payer/provider data ecosystems
