Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Center (Controls / BMS Focus)

Apex Infrastructure Consultants is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a focus on Controls and Building Management Systems for data center projects. The role involves reviewing designs, ensuring systems integration, and collaborating with various teams to enhance system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Review engineering specs, plans, drawings, and equipment submittals
• Validate HVAC controls design (sensors, transmitters, valves, sequences)
• Review mechanical and electrical system integration within data centers
• Evaluate controls logic and sequences of operation for accuracy and performance
• Support BMS/controls integration using BACnet and Modbus protocols
• Identify design gaps, coordination issues, and risks early
• Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and project teams to resolve issues
• Provide clear, actionable feedback to improve system performance and reliability

Requirements:

• Experience in data centers, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure
• Strong background reviewing: Specs, Drawings, Submittals
• Solid understanding of: HVAC systems + controls, Electrical systems in critical environments, Mechanical systems integration
• Familiarity with BACnet / Modbus
• Ability to interpret controls logic + sequences of operation
• Control panel design experience
• Exposure to BMS / SCADA systems
• Basic networking knowledge
