Applied Information Sciences (AIS) is a mission-driven team passionate about making a difference. They are seeking a Junior AWS Software Engineer to support federal customers by driving the stability and sustainability of cloud-based networks and software systems.
Responsibilities:
- Drives the stability and sustainability of the cloud-based networks, software systems for scaling and reliable operations
- Performs system integration, verification and validation and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
- Creates proactive engineering mechanisms that will enable the team to manage the health of a number of distributed VMs
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies for hardware and software specifications
- Utilizes trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience developing, testing, or maintaining software applications in AWS‑based environments
- Hands-on experience with core AWS services and cloud‑native development concepts, including compute, storage, networking, and basic security controls
- Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages commonly used in cloud environments (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar)
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and supporting software delivery in regulated or mission environments
- Active Secret clearance or higher, with ability to support federal and mission‑critical programs
- IAT Level II certification (DoD 8570/8140 compliant) and one or more cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience supporting DoD/IC programs and mission systems
