SoTalent is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and integration of advanced liquid-cooled infrastructure for hyperscale data centers. The role involves solving complex engineering challenges, driving innovation, and shaping next-generation cooling technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end‑to‑end mechanical design for liquid‑cooled racks, CDUs, manifolds, structural frames, and hydronic piping systems
- Serve as the expert in single-phase and two-phase liquid cooling, including loop architecture and in‑rack distribution
- Define and validate mechanical performance requirements—pressure, temperature, flow, hydrostatic integrity, and serviceability
- Perform stress analysis, FEA, flow modeling, and structural load calculations for machined, welded, and structural components
- Drive material selection for wetted systems with a focus on corrosion resistance, surface treatments, and long‑term durability
- Build and review detailed CAD designs (CREO, SolidWorks) and complete technical documentation for manufacturability and integration
- Develop specifications for hydronic components and cooling infrastructure aligned with industry standards (ASME, ISO)
- Lead validation activities including hydrostatic testing, leak detection, flow resistance checks, and corrosion verification
- Evaluate customer requirements for feasibility, cost, manufacturability, and overall design optimization
- Collaborate closely with thermal, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams for system‑level integration
- Improve manifold and assembly processes—machining, welding, sealing, venting, draining, and flow path optimization
- Support production scaling, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical leadership in supplier qualification and manage engineering risks across performance, schedule, and cost
- Contribute to R&D efforts advancing next‑gen liquid cooling technologies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and system integration
- Proven success delivering complex engineered systems
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategies, and reliability engineering
- Familiarity with data center or mission‑critical infrastructure (preferred)
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
