C5MI is a high-performance consulting firm specializing in SAP and supply chain solutions. The Industry 4.0 Engineer will design, build, and deliver demonstrations of cyber-physical systems, integrating automation and digital platforms to enhance customer engagement and operational technology.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops prototypes and proof-of-concept models demonstrating interaction between physical devices and digital systems
- Creates and enhances cyber-physical system (CPS) demonstrations integrating robotics, sensors, AGVs, and automation technologies
- Collaborates with architects and engineers to integrate CPS with backend systems including applications, databases, cloud platforms, and analytics tools
- Builds and maintains a controlled lab environment, including playbooks, setup/teardown scripts, and continuous improvement documentation
- Defines technical requirements, configures hardware, installs software, and troubleshoots system issues
- Develops reusable designs and writes code (Python, JavaScript, low-code/no-code tools) to orchestrate CPS behavior
- Integrates sensors (vision, temperature, motion, etc.) into demonstration environments, including data collection, processing, and action triggers
- Implements cybersecurity controls such as encryption, access management, and secure communication protocols
- Supports internal customer engagements by delivering, refining, and scaling demonstration scenarios
- Conducts research on emerging Industry 4.0 capabilities, threats, and trends; authors internal recommendations and presentations
- Adheres to all certified processes and information security standards, actively participating in quality assurance activities
- Performs additional tasks as assigned to support C5MI’s Industry 4.0 roadmap
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field; or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of industry experience, including 2-3 years as a software engineer or automation controls engineer supporting OT solutions
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (Node-RED, Node.js, PowerAutomate) and familiarity with HTML/CSS
- Hands-on experience with Industry 4.0 frameworks, toolsets, and modeling platforms (e.g., Node-RED, Predix, MindSphere)
- 1-3 years supporting testing of OT solutions, including authoring test plans, data provisioning, execution, and remediation
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
- Experience with hybrid cloud implementations, IPaaS/SaaS integrations, and cloud governance
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, systems administration, and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Proficiency in at least one programming language and modern software development practices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues and deliver effective solutions
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse operations, or cyber-physical environments
- Familiarity with robotics, AGVs, PLCs, or industrial automation systems
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and overall web page development
- Experience with virtualization technologies, data management, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies and project management tools
- Experience authoring technical documentation, SOPs, or demonstration playbooks
- Prior work supporting government or defense-related programs
- Full lifecycle implementation experience across IT/OT environments
- Background in sensor fusion, edge computing, or real-time data processing
- Certifications in cybersecurity, cloud, or Industry 4.0 technologies
