Largeton Group is seeking a Mechanical Nuclear Engineer to perform complex engineering tasks within the nuclear industry. The role involves preparing design change packages, leading discussions to resolve design issues, and overseeing engineering vendor activities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare Design Change Packages according to the Standard Design Change process used across the US Nuclear fleet
- Perform highly complex mechanical engineering tasks requiring deep knowledge of nuclear industry standards and regulations
- Lead discussions to resolve design issues and coordinate design production in group settings
- Apply nuclear industry standards, codes, and regulations (including 10 CFR 50.59, Appendix B) to solve engineering problems
- Serve as a technical liaison within the nuclear business unit
- Review and approve Engineering Change Packages and related documentation
- Oversee engineering vendor activities, including owner acceptance reviews of deliverables
- Develop specifications, statements of work, and conduct bid evaluations for engineering vendors
- Ensure successful implementation and schedule adherence for all assigned projects, including capital modifications and emergent/outage work
- Support project implementation, including the development of test plans, applicability determinations, and 50.59 Screening
- Manage engineering vendor activities onsite as needed
- Work independently with wide latitude to exercise judgment over technical solutions
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or other Engineering with 7+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience)
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical codes, components, and systems
- Prior experience leading design projects or possessing project management experience in the nuclear industry
- Proficient with engineering design processes (Design Packages, Calculations, Specifications, Drawings)
- Understanding of nuclear regulations (10 CFR 50.59, Appendix B)
- Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions
- Experience with drafting, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, ISI/IST, ASME Section II, VIII, XI, and pipe stress analysis (ADL Pipe or similar)
