Nemours is seeking a Director of Environmental Health and Safety to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.
The Director of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for the maintenance and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory requirements within the research department. The incumbent will be responsible for developing safety training programs, including annual mandatory training assessments and new employee orientations. The position will maintain chemical inventory lists and biohazardous tracking and disposal activities and records. They serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, and provide professional guidance, technical support, development and implementation of safety and health procedures. This includes development and implementation of the Chemical Hygiene Plan for laboratory use of hazardous chemicals as required under OSHA regulations.
The position provides support and guidance in the development and implementation of institutional and laboratory/protocol-specific procedures and protocols, as well as conducting hazard assessments and responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials.
