Senior Backend Engineer

Yahoo is a leading destination for comprehensive sports news and innovative fantasy games. The Senior Backend Engineer will be responsible for developing new features for fantasy games, maintaining game operations, building APIs, and ensuring engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:

• New feature development for our season long and casual fantasy games in an Agile environment
• Maintain game operations (e.g. seasonal launches)
• Build APIs to support our mobile and web clients
• Improve the code base and maintain engineering excellence
• Interact cross functionally with Product and Design teams to plan and execute on fantasy projects
• Architect infrastructure solutions to complex problems for new development

Requirements:

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent certification
• Working knowledge of Linux/UNIX
• OOP and software design in PHP
• Strong skills writing unit and functional tests
• 5+ years of experience
• Building and/or using RESTful APIs
• Web servers like jetty or undertow
• Familiarity with cloud services like AWS
• Experience with MySQL or similar query languages
• Track record of proactively establishing and following through on commitments
• Passion for sports and for delivering products that users simply cannot live without
• Experience in using AI to develop code and solve problems is a huge plus!
