FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) is building a team to coordinate and host regional pedestrian safety summits across the United States. As a Project Manager, you will oversee the project's execution, manage staff, and ensure project objectives are achieved while serving as the main contact with NHTSA.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the NHTSA Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and manage all aspects of project execution
- Develop and maintain the project work plan, including timetable, metrics, strategies, and budget
- Organize, direct, and monitor project staff to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope
- Lead the project kickoff meeting within two weeks of award and prepare all associated briefing materials
- Coordinate planning efforts for ten regional pedestrian safety summits across all NHTSA regions, working closely with NHTSA Regional Offices and State Highway Safety Offices
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports documenting accomplishments, financial status, and planned activities
- Conduct monthly conference calls with NHTSA to discuss project status and upcoming milestones
- Identify and communicate project risks, obstacles, or delays and recommend solutions to the COR
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and conform to plain language and Section 508 requirements
- Host a virtual final briefing presenting project results, materials developed, and key outcomes
- Travel to summit locations across all ten NHTSA regions nationwide to oversee and coordinate each regional summit event
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Education/Experience Substitution: PhD and 0 years experience; Master's and 1 year experience; Associate's and 5 years experience; High School and 7 years experience
- Experience managing research projects on traffic safety problems, with an emphasis on pedestrian safety
- Expertise in research design, data analysis, preparing research reports, and applying research findings to countermeasure development
- Familiarity with NHTSA, State Highway Safety Offices (SHSOs), and the Safe System Approach
- Experience coordinating with federal agencies, regional offices, and diverse stakeholder groups including law enforcement, public health, community-based organizations, and tribal partners
- Background in planning and managing large-scale meetings, summits, or conferences focused on public safety topics
- Experience developing and managing project work plans, budgets, and milestone schedules for federally funded projects
- Previous experience supporting a similar Government agency or large-scale corporate environment
