SES Corporation is supporting the U.S. Air Force Cloud One Architecture and Common Shared Services contract and currently has an opening for a DevOps Engineer. This role involves modernizing a global-scale multi-cloud environment in support of critical missions, focusing on system resiliency, security, and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to manage, troubleshoot, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure
- Familiarity with networking concepts (subnets, security groups, routing)
- Experience writing, modifying, and deploying Terraform configurations
- Understanding of state management, modules, and environment separation
- Ability to troubleshoot failed deployments and configuration issues
- Proficiency with Git workflows (branching, merging, version control)
- Experience working with GitLab or similar platforms
- Ability to manage and review infrastructure code changes
- Understanding of pipeline-based deployments (build, test, deploy stages)
- Experience troubleshooting pipeline failures
- Familiarity with automating infrastructure deployments
- Basic system administration skills (file systems, services, permissions)
- Experience managing server configurations and performance
- Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues
- Familiarity with system hardening practices
- Understanding of STIGs or similar security baselines
- Ability to apply and validate secure configurations
- Understanding of backup strategies and data protection concepts
- Experience verifying backups and performing restore operations
- Awareness of disaster recovery principles
- General familiarity with ServiceNow platform structure and environments
- Ability to support administrative tasks and environment operations
- Understanding of how platform performance ties to underlying infrastructure
- Ability to diagnose issues across infrastructure, pipelines, and applications
- Strong problem-solving skills across multiple technical layers
- Experience supporting production systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's and 8+ years or more of experience; Master's and 6+ years or more of experience. Additional experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Interim Secret clearance required to start; Ability to obtain Secret clearance required to maintain employment
- US citizenship required
- Working knowledge in AWS Infrastructure Fundamentals Understanding of core AWS services (EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, S3)
- Ability to manage, troubleshoot, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure
- Familiarity with networking concepts (subnets, security groups, routing)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) Experience writing, modifying, and deploying Terraform configurations
