Civil Engineering Designer

SEH is an employee-owned engineering, architectural, planning, and environmental company seeking a Civil Engineering Designer to join their Civil team. The role involves supporting the design and analysis of various infrastructure projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and collaborating with team members to meet client needs.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting members of our growing Civil Engineering team
• Use of AutoCAD Civil 3D design for analysis and design of roadways, trails, sidewalks, water main, sanitary and storm sewer systems and site improvements
• Use of Microsoft Excel for development of project bid item tables, quantities and cost opinions
• Prepare construction plans and specifications, site plans, grading and drainage plans, studies and reports for a wide range of public and private infrastructure systems
• Serve as a construction observer to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications and assist the public on a variety of infrastructure projects
• Documenting the day-to-day construction site activities, material sampling and testing, and measuring of pay quantities
• Attend team meetings and/or client consultation meetings to understand client needs and incorporate them into design
• Learning new design techniques and construction capabilities to bring clients the most innovative and creative solutions
• Being dedicated to working hard and achieving excellence in a team environment
• Mentor and support other Civil Design staff

Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Must have good communication skills and be able to work independently
• Strong experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D design
• Ability to create and manipulate AutoCAD Civil 3D objects, such as alignments, profiles, assemblies, corridors, pipe networks, feature lines, etc
• Experience in design and plan set creation for public street and utility, private subdivision, and site design projects
