ParsonsKellogg is seeking a talented Geotechnical Engineer/Civil Engineer to join their team, where they will support various major geotechnical and geo-environmental projects. The role involves performing engineering tasks, coordinating field investigations, and collaborating with project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and / or coordinate a variety of geotechnical / civil engineering tasks to complete designs for variety of projects, including remediation and infrastructure projects such as cutoff walls, mines, landfills, bridge foundation, roadway design, retaining walls, excavations, and solidification
- Write design reports and memos
- Assist in developing design drawings and writing technical specifications
- Perform and / or coordinate engineering calculations, such as slope stability, settlement and finite element analysis
- Develop and / or coordinate field investigation programs
- Complete investigation and construction field assignments (as needed)
- Coordinate laboratory testing programs and analyze and interpret laboratory test results
- Review boring logs and develop subsurface soil profiles
- Work effectively and collaboratively with project team
- Manage tasks and obtain the necessary management skills to grow into a project manager / technical lead position
- Willingness and ability to travel for project work, including to remote mine sites in the U.S. and Canada
- Candidate must also implement behavior-based safety tools to achieve incident free operations (no personal injuries, property damage or environmental releases) for both client and Parsons
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer or related field preferably with a specialization or strong focus in Geotechnical Engineering
- 5+ years of related work experience in geotechnical, remediation, mining or infrastructure design and construction
- Proficiency in Microsoft software and various computer software applications
- Requires a strong proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
- Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
- Familiarity with CAD
- Familiarity with geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, RocScience and GeoStudio
