Messer Cutting Systems is seeking a Field Service Engineer responsible for machine installations, preventative maintenance, and service on machines throughout North America at various customer sites. The role involves diagnosing and repairing multi-axis CNC equipment, performing upgrades, and training customers on equipment use and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, install, and perform preventive maintenance of multi-axis CNC equipment at customer sites throughout North America
- Perform machine and software upgrades
- Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of the equipment
- Properly handle 480VAC and conform to related safety procedures
- Interpret mechanical layout drawings, electrical schematics, and bills of materials
- Complete required paperwork on time (e.g., service reports, discrepancy reports, expense reports, etc.) on a timely basis
- Achieve/maintain Customer Survey Satisfaction rating as established by the Service Manager
- Provide technical telephone support, as required
- Conduct final product testing in house, as required
- Conform to OSHA’s safety guidelines and follow proper lockout/tagout procedures
- Requires 95-100% travel, frequently on short notice
Requirements:
- 3+ years of related experience in comparable machine installation and repair
- Associate's Degree in Electronics, Robotics or Automation technologies
- Diagnose, repair, install, and perform preventive maintenance of multi-axis CNC equipment at customer sites throughout North America
- Perform machine and software upgrades
- Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of the equipment
- Properly handle 480VAC and conform to related safety procedures
- Interpret mechanical layout drawings, electrical schematics, and bills of materials
- Complete required paperwork on time (e.g., service reports, discrepancy reports, expense reports, etc.) on a timely basis

- Experience with Plasma, Laser, and Oxyfuel cutting process
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machines
- Experience with CAD/CAM software
- Familiar with the use of power and construction tools, such as: hammer drills, impact guns, and cordless drills
- Strong oral communication skills
- Strong customer service skills, with a 'customer first' mindset
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
