SAMCO Technologies is focused on acquiring and retaining profitable customers, and they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to oversee the successful initiation, start-up, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial water treatment equipment projects. The role involves ensuring systems are designed and maintained according to client and manufacturer requirements while promoting safety and efficiency in operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of project-specific start-up and commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules
- Conduct commissioning coordination meetings with the owner, project management, and contractors
- Provide technical support on all projects with a focus on start-up and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, chemical, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Technical Tasks: Their responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex machinery and systems
- Ensure the complete design functions as a whole and meets client specifications
- Manage client/vendor/subcontractor coordination for the startup of the project
- Create written procedures for testing, cleaning, and initial startup of major plant equipment and systems
- Provide training programs and materials for process plant equipment
- Coordinate and participate in start-up sequence meetings with both client and EPC contractors
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety consciousness, understanding that it is a critical factor in preventing accidents and ensuring the well-being of all team members
- Maintain awareness of hazards and alertness to danger in all aspects of project start-up and commissioning activities
- Promote a culture of safety by setting a good example and encouraging team members to prioritize safety in their daily tasks
- Engage actively in safety meetings, report all hazards, and take responsibility for correcting safely any observed hazards
- Implement and adhere to safety protocols, ensuring that all operations comply with industry standards and regulations
- Obtain and maintain a TWIC card in good status
- Create, participate and lead company safety improvement initiatives
- Write, create and deliver equipment training modules to internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in the development of the Aftermarket Parts and Services business strategy and deployment
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting complex systems and machinery
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding of engineering concepts and principles
- Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, OPC-UA)
- The ability to commission and troubleshoot various analyzers used in water treatment
- Proficiency in test results, control systems, and project management
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, and OSHA protocols
- Excellent math and technical skills, with the ability to think methodically
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes, including filtration, reverse osmosis, and chemical dosing control loops
- The ability to conduct I/O checkout and loop tuning to ensure proper system functionality
- Time management and multitasking abilities to maintain an overview of multiple project elements
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues efficiently
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration with diverse teams and clients
- Microsoft suite of products knowledge is required
- Strong adaptability skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adjust to evolving project requirements
- Exceptional teamwork capabilities, including collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals
- Proven track record of working well under pressure, demonstrating flexibility in the face of shifting priorities and tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to facilitate successful project outcomes
- Must be punctual
- Proficiency in Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) PLC/HMI programming is preferred; experience with Siemens, Schneider, or ABB is a plus
