Brooksource is seeking a Mid-Level Design Engineer to support utility and infrastructure design initiatives using Automated Utility Design (AUD). The role involves producing high-quality designs, collaborating with various stakeholders, and maintaining design documentation in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and review utility or infrastructure design drawings using AUD within AutoCAD
- Produce complete design packages aligned with project specifications, utility standards, and production requirements
- Interpret engineering data, field notes, pole data, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, field crews, and distribution & telecommunications teams to support project execution
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from internal and client stakeholders
- Interface, as needed, with the company’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) tool (NextGen) to support asset-related design updates
- Maintain accurate, version-controlled design documentation in a fast-paced, production environment
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in a design engineering or technical design role
- Hands-on experience with AUD (SBS)
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD
- Experience supporting utility or infrastructure design projects
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and communication skills
- Experience supporting distribution and/or telecommunications utility projects
- Familiarity with utility overhead construction concepts and design considerations
- Exposure to or experience with EAM tools (NextGen preferred)
- Knowledge of or familiarity with Katapult or similar make-ready engineering tools
- Understanding of pole construction methodologies, equipment replacements, utility production environments, and National Grid standards and design practices
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
