DoorDash is a technology and logistics company focused on building a scalable delivery network for consumers, merchants, and Dashers. They are seeking a Principal Privacy Engineer to lead the technical direction for privacy engineering, ensuring alignment with business objectives and collaborating with various teams to implement privacy-preserving controls.
Responsibilities:
- Set and execute the technical vision for Privacy Engineering, ensuring alignment with DoorDash business objectives
- Lead the overall global privacy engineering direction and roadmap execution
- Be the foremost technical expert to design, influence and ship practical privacy preserving controls with rigor and developer ergonomics
- Partner cross-functionally with Core Infrastructure, Product Engineering, Legal, Security, Data teams and partners to build “paved road” privacy preserving controls that enable privacy by design practices into the product and infrastructure development process
- Build and maintain high Operational Excellence (OE) privacy services to ensure we operate with excellence, rigor and durable standards to ensure minimal downtime
- Influence and enable the secure and responsible adoption of LLMs and AI tools from a privacy preserving perspective
Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience as a privacy engineer at an Internet scale organization with demonstrated technical leadership in applications of privacy enhancing technologies, machine learning, and analytical techniques for privacy assurances and validation at scale
- Track record of shifting the industry in how Internet scale companies deliver privacy preserving experiences across global economies
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Privacy, or a related field
- Demonstrated technical leadership in Data Classification, Inventory, Sharing, and Deletion
- Demonstrated technical leadership in Technical Data Governance (Data Scanning), Data Protection (Encryption, Pseudonomization, Crypto Shredding), Privacy Enhancing Controls (PETs), and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs)
- Demonstrated technical leadership designing technical privacy engineering controls and processes to meet required regulatory requirements such as Right to Be Forgotten, and Navigating Privacy Frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, DSA, etc.)
- Demonstrated technical leadership in designing scalable, AI enabled and ergonomic privacy review processes
- Exceptional problem solving of complex, systemic issues that require audacious thinking, rigor and creativity
- Exceptional analytical and investigative abilities with hands-on experience leading root cause analysis for privacy incidents and driving long term roadmaps to remediate
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills - you can shape and lead the privacy engineering function globally and influence stakeholders across core engineering and product teams to privacy preserving control outcomes
