They are seeking a Research Systems Engineer to support federal customers with architecture and infrastructure needs, focusing on cloud architecture design and cybersecurity system implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for new cloud architecture design, development and integration of new architectural features into existing cloud infrastructures while maintaining the integrity and security of enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks
- Lead multi-disciplined teams in the design and implementation of the cybersecurity system architecture
- Able to apply cyber security standards, directives, guidance and policies to a cloud architectural framework
- Compile industry best practices and lessons learned into future iterations and new designs for the cloud hosting environment
- Provide broad based experience in the systems engineering lifecycle and specific cyber security initiatives relating to cloud architectural design and development
- Resolve cloud architecture implementation issues during integration and test
- Interface with different entities - internal and external to the enterprise
- Considered a recognized authority within the company
- Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative
Requirements:
- Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience supporting, designing, and engineering research, development, or experimental systems in secure or mission‑focused environments
- Extensive experience designing, integrating, and operating complex systems across cloud, on‑premises, and hybrid environments to support research and prototyping efforts
- Strong hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or others), including automation, system optimization, scalability, and secure system operations
- Solid understanding of system and cloud security principles, including access controls, monitoring, configuration management, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance considerations
- Active Secret clearance or higher, with ability to support classified or mission‑critical research programs
- IAT Level II certification (DoD 8570/8140 compliant) and one or more cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience supporting DoD/IC programs and mission systems
