Principal Engineer, Radiation Hardened Systems

Amentum is a trusted partner to United States government agencies, allied governments, and corporations worldwide. They are hiring a Principal Engineer for Radiation Hardened Systems to support nuclear modernization efforts, acting as a Subject Matter Expert and guiding architectural decisions while collaborating with leadership and government customers.

Responsibilities:

• Interface with numerous stakeholders across the Amentum and Government teams to understand specific program needs and requirements
• Analyze the impact of radiation environments on system performance and support system level design trades
• Design harden and verify the performance of systems across multiple radiation effects
• Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation hardened is maintained throughout the product lifecycle
• Provide guidance on critical decision-making and complex problem solving
• Develop and/or review program reports, technical papers, white papers, and roadmaps
• Demonstrate ability to recognize nuances and resolve contradictions and inconsistencies in information
• Support various Amentum company initiatives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and at least twenty (20) years of job-related experience
• Expertise in materials and device radiation interactions
• Extensive experience in radiation testing, requirements development, and results analysis
• Strategic planning expertise across multiple programs and organizations
• Experience developing technical white papers and proposals
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of team members
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance (Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance)
• Active Secret Clearance
