Gametime is a company focused on uniting the world through shared live experiences, offering platforms for event ticketing across iOS, Android, and desktop. They are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer II to contribute to their E-Commerce Platform team, responsible for building and maintaining backend systems for payment, fraud, and account management. The role involves leading architecture and implementation of microservices, collaborating with various teams, and mentoring fellow engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and implementation of high-performance Golang microservices for e-commerce checkout, account management, and fraud mitigation
- Own the technical design and execution of cross-functional projects, ensuring long-term scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Build, test, monitor, and maintain mission-critical integrations and infrastructure
- Explore and help implement AI-powered capabilities within our systems and workflows, including agentic tools and intelligent automation
- Develop reliable external and internal APIs supporting up to 1 million RPM
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data to shape technical solutions that align with customer and business needs
- Mentor engineers across the team by sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and encouraging engineering excellence
- Drive the end-to-end execution of projects, from initial concept to production
- Identify and drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, observability, and deployment pipelines
- Promote a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture through tech talks, code quality standards, and thought leadership
Requirements:
- Expertise in developing high-throughput systems using Golang (or Python, Ruby, Java, C++, C#, Rust, Scala, etc.)
- Experienced in using AI for Codegen and evangelizing use and best practices for integrating it into development workflow
- Experience building distributed systems that support millions of RPM with low latency
- Familiarity with OIDC Authentication (Google, Apple SSO), E-Commerce Fraud Prevention, Payment Service Provider Integrations (Stripe)
- Experience designing and operating state machines and long-running workflows using systems like AWS Step Functions, Temporal, or equivalent orchestration frameworks
- Skilled at designing resilient public and internal APIs
- Proficient with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Strong experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent messaging systems
- Strong experience with SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL systems (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years in software engineering with 4+ years specifically working on high-throughput backend systems
- Proven experience with workflow orchestration and automation tools; minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with EDFlow for streamlining cross-functional data pipelines and legacy system integration
- Deep understanding of key product areas with the ability to lead initiatives from concept through production
- Actively mentors engineers and uplifts team performance through coaching and feedback
- Independently manages the full lifecycle of complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong communicator and trusted partner to Product, Design, Data, and Engineering peers
- Helps shape technical direction, roadmap priorities, and engineering best practices
